Last week was a difficult one for me, but I learned a lot over the weekend about my process & what it was there to teach me. It was the first week since I have been 'self-employed' that I didn't make any money- at all. I looked around, went down my abundance check list to make sure I was in the flow To my knowledge I was. Yesterday, when I wanted to crawl under the covers & feel sorry for myself, I decided to go out shopping with Stevi instead. I didn't buy anything except brownie mix, but over our delicious handmade pizza we discussed where I was stuck, what I was doing & more importantly what I could be doing to unclog my flow. As we continued talking I realized that in the places I thought I was in action I was anything but. I looked back over my week & saw that I was paralyzed by fear - wondering if I should just give up & walk away from my dream. I stopped promoting my courses, I stopped designing what the course would look like, I just froze. As Stevi & I began brain storming for new ways to promote Enchanted Intentions I felt my 'stuck' being lifted. I felt better about moving forward & looking back I realize how silly it was that I would even consider giving up my dream after only a week of The Universe teaching me patience & trust. By Monday morning, I had 2 new Passioneers sign up for Desperately Seeking Passion. Bottom line- when things are showing up for you, if the flow isn't there, get in action, in every way possible. As for my week of 'hardship' I am grateful at all that I have learned. Here I go ---> keep on, keepin' on. In 3 words, tell me what passion feels like to you. invigorating, delightful, sparkly What is your most useful outlet to allow your passion to really come alive? It is a toss up. I am so in the flow when I work with folks as a healer and intuitive. It is just amazing to experience the connection with someones higher self and my higher self and The Universe at large. I would also have to say writing. I love other forms of expression, but writing is where the energy just rocks with the greatest grace and ease. What does passion taste like? It tastes a Kogi BBQ Short Rib Taco. It’s savory, yet sweet and has a bit of kick. It’s totally addicting. With every bite, I want another one. How do you know when you've found something that falls into the category of your passion? I don’t often use the word passion. I know what is meant by it and I totally embrace that. However, it has its root in the word suffering, which doesn’t really do it for me. I prefer the word enthusiasm which comes from the Greek “to be inspired by God.” That definition kind of thrills me and really gives me the direction to know if I am really in that place of magic. I know I have found it when I am filled with enthusiasm...when I just love what I am doing. And even when the initial rush momentum has waned, I still love being in that line energy doing what I love. What would you tell someone who had no idea where to begin finding their passion? I think we all have an idea of what thrills us. It is a matter of being brave enough to acknowledge what our dreams are. That is not easy. Often the spark is buried beneath piles judgments that we have about ourselves...But it is there. How we view ourselves and self-worth can get in the way of acknowledging our passions. If you don’t believe you can really be fully engaged in your life then you can’t be. Often our passion seems so big...bigger then we can embrace and live. So we ignore them. But they keep their roots planted. I also remind people that passion doesn’t have to be contained in one thing. It’s not like people have to find that once activity that will do it for them. It’s more about finding the sparkle woven throughout your life. It’s how you like to play. How you create. What lets you breathe deep and feels all tingly excited. From there heart and soul centered creations and projects can be born. What is something your passion has taught you? That the callings of my heart, the seeds planted by The Universe...my true passion does not wane. It waited for me patiently to rediscover and rediscover it, until I was in a place to truly delve and play in the energy of it all. If your passion, your inner light took form and could speak - what would it say to you? You are a rockstar! Playing in the world on the energy of what you love will bring you to the place of freedom that calls to heart of every one of us. This is what you do. This is who you are. Your passion is one that you would suffer for...one that you have slogged through the great state of muddy I-don’t-knowness until you came to the light. It is one that will always be with you for it is a piece of your souls essence and the essence of The Universal Soul as it longs to know its self...it knows itself through you and the energy that makes your heart sing, your body quiver and mind quiet. It is what the thrills your soul and that is fucking awesome! PS. You can now register for Desperately Seeking Passion for only $69. Registration ends March 6th. Bunny photo Friday & a note from me 02/25/2011
Happy Friday friends. After spending the day in Austin yesterday to see Lissa Rankin's last book tour stop (& being overly exhausted today), I woke up with a notion to lower the price on Desperately Seeking Passion. When I read yesterday's blog post from Danielle LaPorte, my notion was confirmed. I realized that it is more important for me to get this message out there and get people looking at where the passion is missing in their lives & how to revive it, or crank it up a notch than it is for me to make money. Of course, the course isn't free - I still want to make something. But the price is significantly less than it was. In fact, I cut it in half. You are more important to me than the money. Relationships 101: Be in communication 02/24/2011
It's easy to live in the land where we expect everyone to understand why we feel the way that we do or even assume everyone understands the cause of our emotions. But the truth is that most people aren't mind readers. It doesn't matter if you have been in a relationship for a month or ten years. Now is the time to open the lines of communication more clearly. It is not your partners fault. They shouldn't 'know by now' why you are upset. Start in square one with you. What can you take responsibility for? How can you communicate your feelings more clearly? Are you communicating with them at all? PS. Check Out Enchanted Intentions and get your morning started off on a lighter foot. Sometimes it doesn't work & that's okay 02/23/2011
Wow. It's already 4:00 p.m. & I am just now getting around to posting something. Is it because I forgot or because I am avoiding something? Honestly? The latter. This morning I wrote on a piece of paper what I was surrendering something I didn't want to carry by myself anymore and placed the pieces of paper in my magic bag. When I put things in there - they get taken care of some how. I don't ask questions, I just do it & it works. I wrote "I am letting go of who, how, why or when people sign up for Desperately Seeking Passion. It is out of my hands & I know that who ever shows up is perfect for the course & I will move forward with passion from there." (I've only had 2 people sign up so far. At least one more on the way.) The other thing I wrote was "I am letting go of feeling like my success depends on how much money I make and moving my focus to what I am contributing to society." I'll admit - it is a bit discouraging when the first course you put out there gets a standing ovation and for the second, you hear crickets. But there is a lesson in all of this for me. A lesson in attachment, surrender and above all else, no matter how good your marketing skills are - sometimes, it just doesn't work & that's okay. Surrender. Surrender. Surrender. In preparation for my upcoming March eCourse Desperately Seeking Passion, I wanted to ask questions to some of the people I have met in the Twitterverse about how they live passionate lives & what passion means to them. With that said, ladies & gents - meet Tess. In 3 words, tell me what passion feels like to you. excitement, inspiration, vitality What is your most useful outlet to allow your passion to really come alive? Inspiring others to live their healthiest lives. I often accomplish this by showing them how to make delicious vegan cuisine. What does passion taste like? Dark chocolate and blackberries. And guava kombucha. How do you know when you've found something that falls into the category of your passion? I'm a highly intuitive person. I always check in with my inner knowing and can tell right away if something is in alignment with my higher path. Also, it will invigorate me, as I gain a lot of energy every time I am able to help someone else. What would you tell someone who had no idea where to begin finding their passion? Try this: Temporarily set aside your fears and limiting thoughts. Ask yourself what makes you happy. The sky's the limit. What do you absolutely love to do? You can also meditate on this very question. Meditation is a great way to tap into your inner knowing and true passion. What is something your passion has taught you? To trust. Even if it takes a time, you really can live your dreams and your passions. Our heart's desires are there for a reason and if we pursue our passion with determination and joy, we will inspire others. If your passion, your inner light took form and could speak - what would it say to you? I love you. And "keep on following your bliss!" Quintessence ("Tess") Challis began her holistic health journey in her late teens. In 1994, she began sharing this knowledge through cooking classes, catering, meditation classes, and workshops. She has also been a personal chef to many clients across the United States. In 2008, Tess published the 1st edition of "Radiant Health, Inner Wealth" which was the culmination of knowledge from her many personal experiences and work as a chef and instructor. In 2009, her 2nd edition was published, which has been noted as the most unique, comprehensive book on the subject of holistic health to date. Tess's latest book, The Two-Week Wellness Solution: The Fast Track to Permanent Weight Loss and Vitality, was recently released. Tess is currently working on her next book (a superfoods cookbook), due out this June. She also works as a wellness coach, personal chef, and cooking class instructor across the U.S. On Tuesday's I share with you the people I come across that touch, move & inspire me & the services they have to offer to the world. I consider this my way to give back to the lovely people who so generously support me. Have you been looking for a place to retreat? This morning I sent out the first of many Enchanted Intentions (my monthly subscription service). I wanted to share it with you here so you could get a taste of what they are like. I am considering changing the subscription to Monday through Friday instead of just once a week. I know doing these readings helps me stay focused & in the flow. In every complaint there is a request. I can’t remember where I first heard that, but it has stuck with me ever since it leapt into my ears & then straight to my heart. Isn’t it true? Think about all the times you stood in the kitchen yelling at your spouse over something that hurt your feelings, an action was or wasn’t done, or the laundry list of little complaints you left unannounced that piled up over time and came out in one BIG explosion. With every statement of dissatisfaction that left your mouth, there was a request that could have been made. My invitation to you is that the next time you feel yourself boiling over with anger and frustration you write out
