Happy Wednesday! @MeganMonique Great Goddess Interviews: Joni Lang 08/30/2011
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? When I was little, I always wanted to be a Stewardess. It seemed so glamorous, wearing the cute little dress and serving people. I don't think you could pay me enough money to do that now, lol! If you could pick 3 colors to surround you for the next 6 months, what would they be? Purple/Lavender, Yellow and Orange. Purple has always been my favorite color, and Yellow and Orange just seem so bright and happy, how could you not want to be surrounded by bright and happy? What is your number 1, super-duper, never ending important goal for your life? To live my life in accordance with the teachings of my religion so that my family can be together for Eternity. My husband and I have been married for almost 29 years, and we have 4 amazing children, and 4 beautiful grandaughters and one more on the way. To me, Family is the most important thing. What is the first thing that crosses your mind most mornings? When I first wake up in the morning, the first thing that crosses my mind is "what day is it?", and then I go over my schedule for the day and the things I want to accomplish. Who is your favorite super-hero? My favorite super-hero is my Mom. She almost died after my little brother was born, and then she contracted Hepatits so was is and out of the hospital a lot during my childhood. She also has several other health issues including skin ulcers on both legs that will not heal. She has had them for at least the last ten years and has undergone many painful treatments to try to heal them. Through it all, she never, ever complains. She is always more concerned about others than herself, and she helps to take care of my 98 year old grandmother. I think that is one of the main reasons I have tried to learn all I can about alternative modalities of healing, so that I can help my mom. Tell us one strange-ish fact about you... My left eye is just slightly far sighted, but my right eye is hugely near sighted. Makes for an interesting pair of glasses, only now that I am older, I have to have three pair of glasses, one for reading, one for playing the piano, and one for distance. Getting old is so exciting! What celebrity figure has given you the most inspiration within the last year? I'm going to have to leave this one blank. I can't think of one celebrity figure that I look up to, admire, or would want to emulate. What are you doing right now that is of service to the world? I used to volunteer at the local hospital helping to take care of the babies in the NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit. It was the best volunteer gig ever, however, as my children started having babies, I really needed to focus on helping them and being there for them. I love helping others and connecting them to people or services that they need. Right now I help people improve their health by sharing the benefits of therapeutic quality essential oils and supplements. Joni Lang A little help from your salt shaker... 08/29/2011
Although salt is something we don't necessarily want a lot of in our diets, it has many other very useful purposes. I came across this great article from Modern*Simplicity that shares about 20 ways you can use salt around your home. Here are a few of my favorites...

Happy Friday, everyone! Even though I am postponing doing a full-out green juice cleanse, I am still trying to juice daily. I wanted to share one of my recipes with you. It's tasty.
I'm kind of a weenie when it comes to juice making so I add a lot of fruit to mine so that it doesn't taste too much like grass. If you don't mind that grassy taste, use less fruit. The less sugar intake the better. ♥ Green Juice Cleansing On Monday I started a green juice cleanse. I felt total ready and empowered after watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead the Friday before. I thought to myself, I can do this. I had an idea of how it would look, what I would experience, etc. The reality of the cleanse was very different than the image I had painted in my head. I made it through 3/4ths of the day before I decided to eat a cookie. On Tuesday I woke up, ready for another day of juicing. By the time my first glass was resting nicely in my stomach I decided I needed to take a slower approach. It's okay. Slow down a bit. My body told me I didn't have to do this full-force, right away. I hadn't been taking in enough fruits in veges in the first place. So I decided to expand this cleanse over a few weeks and do some prep-work on my body before hand. For the next couple of weeks I will be drinking green juice with every meal and when I feel called to do so, I will replace a meal with some juiced veges. Reminder for you and me. I so often forget that success and movement doesn't have to be done in a way that causes stress and aching. It is okay to take things slow. And that is exactly what I am giving myself permission to do now. Great Goddess Interviews: Alisha Sommer 08/23/2011
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? When I was little there was so much I wanted to do and be. But I always dreamed of sitting in an old English castle by the sea, writing at my old wooden desk by candlelight. If you could pick 3 colors to surround you for the next 6 months, what would they be? These days my soul has been gravitating towards white, cream, and turquoise. What is your number 1, super-duper, never ending important goal for your life? To live authentically and on purpose. What is the first thing that crosses your mind most mornings? How much will I be able to write today? Who is your favorite super-hero? One of my superheroes is my mother for her unwavering commitment to truth-telling and her ownership of who she is. My other superhero is my best friend Sylvia. She somehow manages to balance her imperfect spells with inspiring moments of grace. Tell us one strange-ish fact about you... I'm obsessed with clipping my children's fingernails. What celebrity figure has given you the most inspiration within the last year? I am not one to follow many celebrities. But I have been so inspired watching people in my virtual community grow in their soul's work. A few of my favorite community members are @lisamilesbrady, @gwenbell, @juliedaley, @stratejoy and @MeganMonique. What are you doing right now that is of service to the world? Right now I am allowing myself to be open and vulnerable, to be honest and authentic. Hopefully it inspires others to do the same. Alisha Sommer Burts Bees Toothpaste I bought my very first tube of Burts Bees Toothpaste yesterday and I LOVE it! The taste is minty, the paste isn’t gritty and it foams up in my mouth real nice. [Get your mind out of the gutter people.] So, if your looking for an all natural toothpaste to really keep your choppers clean I highly recommend trying this gem out. Purchase online here. Acai Berry I also recently started taking an Acai Berry supplement. They have a-ton-o goodness for your body. My most favorite thing is all the anitoxidants. Without antioxidants, the body would in theory age faster and fall sick more often. Some of the illnesses believed to be related to the deleterious effects of radicals are atherosclerosis, cancer, liver damage, emphysema, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, deafness and schizophrenia. While scientific studies are still being conducted to confirm these theories, they have sound scientific foundations. This means that we cannot take chances when it comes to free radicals. Antioxidants can help your body keep the double-edged free radicals in check. [source] Be Mind-FULL I believe having a healthy mind is just as important as having a healthy body. I wanted to share a couple of my favorite mind-health blogs so that they may enrich your life as well. If you aren’t already subscribed to Zen Habits and PeacefulDaily, I highly recommend it. What I’m Up To I’ll be sharing my follow up post of Waiting For Cancer here soon. But for now, I am going on a little over two weeks of vegetarianism and I am starting a green juice cleanse today. My goal first and foremost is to make it through the day. My next goal is make it through the next week! I’d like to experience green juice drinking for 7 whole days straight. Cheer me on! Stay tuned this Friday for my review and notes from Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. I'm taking a blogging break 08/14/2011
Dearest Ocean, How I long to dip my toe in your waters. To watch the rays sunshine glitter on the of the tops of your waves. When I am with you, it is as if I am standing on the edge of entirely new Universe. So many things undiscovered. So much unknown. For this is the place where dreams really do come true. It's where the reality we've created can be restructured, released, morphed, loved and abandoned. Here, anything is possible. For the next 3 days I will be on my first real vacation since working for myself over a year ago. I will have my computer but have made a deal with myself to only log-on if I feel truly inspired to write. With that said - you might hear from me, you might not. Either way, I love you and will see you soon. ♥ Megan Monique A message from your Muses 08/13/2011
