Great Goddess Interviews: Amy Palko 09/13/2011
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be an author. I told everyone from around the age of 5 onwards that I was going to write stories - I was right!
If you could pick 3 colors to surround you for the next 6 months, what would they be? Sage green, cranberry red and creamy ivory - all colours that speak to me of growth, femininity, expansiveness, fruition and groundedness.
What is your number 1, super-duper, never ending important goal for your life? To live fully while loving deeply.
What is the first thing that crosses your mind most mornings? The very first thing is a random selection of images as I chase after dream fragments, desperately trying to recall the stories my unconscious told me in the wee small hours. And then, once I've given up the chase, it's my affirmation: I am open to receiving the gifts the universe has to offer me today.
Who is your favorite super-hero? Can I have a goddess instead? Artemis - a fierce protectress who, by practicing perfect balance and perfect aim, achieves her goals with grace and compassion.
Tell us one strange-ish fact about you... I have a PHD in English Literature for a thesis that explored the work and career of Stephen King.
What celebrity figure has given you the most inspiration within the last year? Elizabeth Gilbert - the way she shares her own experience of what it means to be a woman, a spiritual seeker, a writer, so that other women can begin to reflect upon their own experiences, is deeply inspiring.
What are you doing right now that is of service to the world? I'm giving women permission to be self-centred, because I believe that when we centre in self we operate from a position of exquisite abundance.
